About the project
The importance of environmental education in early childhood should be discussed in two dimensions. The first is the positive effect of being in nature on the development and learning of children, the second is that the attitudes and behaviors that children will develop to become environmentally friendly individuals begin to take shape with the quality time they spend in early childhood and nature. Today, however, children in early childhood grow up in an increasingly urbanized and industrialized environment, without any connection to the natural environment or even going outside. Due to traffic, pollution, population density and other risks, generations are growing up who do not know their surroundings outside of the home and shopping center. At this point, the importance of environmental education in early childhood is once again revealed thus this project has been planned for the students in our pre-school age group to connect with nature more.
The main goals of the project is;
- to be aware of creativity and art in nature,
- to increase the time children spend in nature and re-connect with the environment they live in,
-to support children to develop environmentally friendly attitudes,
- to give children opportunities to play an effective role in solving environmental problems,
-to help children see nature as a learning tool, a guide and a teacher,
- to be able to include the development of basic elements of life such as trees, plants, soil, animals, air and water in learning processes,
- to help children become solution-oriented, creative, innovative and identifiable with nature through nature education,
- to minimize the likelihood of experiencing mental problems such as depression, attention deficit and depression, weakness of the physiological and perception / sensory worlds such as a sedentary and disconnected lifestyle, obesity.
- to make students and teachers develop intercultural dialogues.
